The watch went into effect at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, April 1, and lasts until 10 p.m. Saturday, the National Weather Service announced.

- Columbia
- Dutchess
- Fulton
- Greene
- Herkimer
- Kings (Brooklyn)
- Montgomery
- Nassau
- New York (Manhattan)
- Orange
- Putnam
- Queens
- Rensselaer
- Richmond (Staten Island)
- Rockland
- Saratoga
- Schenectady
- Schoharie
- Suffolk
- Ulster
- Westchester
Connecticut counties covered by the watch are:
- Fairfield
- Middlesex
- New Haven
- New London
"The primary threat is damaging wind gusts, but hail and an isolated tornado are also possible," according to the National Weather Service.
Wind gusts could be as high as around 58 miles per hour, which could cause power outages, and hail could be 1 inch in diameter.
